Personalized Care

We tailor every scar tissue release session to your personal needs. Every scar has a story: we start with a careful intake, truly listening to your medical history and personal experience. The session is a team effort, as we communicate about your comfort level and find places of restriction you may not have even been aware of. At all times, consent around pressure and touch is our priority.

Holistic Approach

We know you are more than just your scar. Our approach is gentle, knowing that for many scars are a place of physical and emotional vulnurability. Memories may surface in this work, and we are present and supportive if you experience emotional release. When clients begin to feel change in mobility, even still on the table, the new hope for healing often bring tears of joy.

Expert Therapists

Many of our licensed massage therapists are certified in McLaughlin Scar Tissue Release® (MSTR). These therapists are qualified to integrate MSTR® into regular massage sessions. Talk to your therapist about designing a session that incorporates MSTR® and the style of massage you need.

Transformative Results

This gentle form of myofacial release is a specific protocol that has been shown to be effective with both reecent and very old scar tissue. While we are careful about making claims, we are enthusiastic about MSTR® after hearing the exuberant feedback frrom our grateful, happy clients. You can read some of their stories below.

Our Scar Tissue Massage Services

Scar Tissue Intake Session

Your first session with us is 60 minutes. In our thorough intake, we decide together the best way to design a session to gain information and treat your scar. After the scar work is complete (usually about 15-20 minutes) remaining time is used to integrate massage for down-regulation and stress relief.

Follow Up Sessions

We usually recommend at least 3-5 sessions for maximum benefit, depending on your situation. After the intake session you may choose a varriety of session lengths, depending on your goals: 30-minute focused scar tissue sessions, or 60, 75, or 90 minute sessions to increase the amount of massage included.

Cesarean Section Scars

We began offering scar tissue release to support the many women living with C-section scars. Whether from planned or emergency surgeries, or multiple abdominal procedures, our work focuses on improving mobility, reducing pain, and softening the appearance of scar tissue. Choose the Abdominal Massage when booking for a session focused on this area.

Scar Care for Every Body

We treat a wide range of scars: joint replacements, spinal surgery, car or sports injury, breast cancer surgery, mastectomy, and gender-affirming top surgery. We treat scars as soon as 12 weeks after surgery (with medical clearance) up to scars 20 years old and beyond. Please reach out with any questions, and we are happy to help you decide if scar tissue release is right for you.

What Our Clients Say

I had a c-section years ago and never realized how much scar tissue was affecting my body until I saw Julie. Just from her massaging it, my scar laid flat instead of raised. I was shocked at the difference. She explained everything she was doing, made me feel completely comfortable, and I left feeling lighter and more connected to my body.

Abby G.

I found The Well while seeking treatment for scar release therapy. Upon entering I was met with a tranquil cozy atmosphere, and had such a great experience with Julie. With her warm gentle aura, she took the time to explain the scar release process to me and made sure I was comfortable at all times.

I was so pleased to find such a good fit for my needs, and was surprised to find that…I can now book a 30 minute session which is perfect for the nature of the treatment, while remaining comprehensive.

It’s been really special to find a place where I feel this comfortable, cared for, and considered!

Joscelyn B.

“I came to The Well for Women dealing with chronic pain and tightness from old surgeries and injuries. Julie’s approach was completely different from anything I had tried before. This combined effort has decreased my pain, increased my mobility, and helped me feel hopeful again.”
