Customized Massage

A customized blend of NMT, Swedish, Deep Tissue and stretching, individualized for your particular needs and preferences. Designed to specifically address your personal concerns, embedded in a wonderful hour of soothing relief.

Prenatal Massage

Offered in side-lying position, the safest and most comfortable way to receive massage during pregnancy. Massage can create a significant reduction in back pain, headaches, hip pain, sciatica, swelling and more. The therapists at The Well have the most collective experience in prenatal massage in New Haven.

Postpartum Massage

Massage is a great way to jump start your post-birth recovery: relieve sore muscles from the birth work, reduce back pain from nursing and baby care  and learn recovery exercises. Careful abdominal massage can assist in the return of normal digestion and tighten loose skin. We position you carefully to avoid pressure on your chest and belly, allowing you to lie face-down on the table again.

C-Section Scar Release

A 15-minute add-on to a 60-minute postpartum session after medical clearance. Integrated into your massage, this gentle cross fiber and small stretching of the connective tissue will help reduce the feel and appearance of scars up to several years old. Includes teaching you the techniques to continue the benefits at home.

Classes and Groups

Breastfeeding Support Group:

1st and 3rd Tues 7pm

Led by experienced lactation consultant Irene Cullough. Get helpful strategies on a host of breastfeeding challenges, hands-on support, and join a community of moms who are goign through it with you. No registration required, just show up as you are! (Though we appreciate your partner's support, for the modesty factor this is just for the breastfeeding moms.)

Yoga Tune Up: Sun 4pm

Yoga Tune Up is a unique movement format that blends traditional yoga poses, corrective exercises and self massage techniques to eradicate pain, improve posture and enhance performance. Each class offers an opportunity to identify the body’s “blind spots”- areas that are overused, underused or misused that cause pain and/or dysfunction. Once identified these areas can be healed, stretched, strengthened and reeducated to establish healthy pain-free movement patterns.

Belly Dance

Belly Dance is one the most beautiful, exciting and sensual forms of self-expression.  Considered to be the oldest form of dance which roots have been traced to the Middle East, Mediterranean, and Africa.  

 

Traditionally, belly dancing was performed during fertility and pre-marriage ceremonies. Women would get together and celebrate each other's beauty and femininity. The dance technique emphasizes complex movements of the torso and the hips. It is empowering, uplifting, healing and fun! 

Rusty Hinges Yoga:

In Rusty Hinges we build upon the foundation present in each student’s body, to strengthen, stabilize and in turn create more flexibility within the mind, body and spirit. The pace is steady, building endurance as the yogic postures become more familiar and known. Saskia is a seasoned teacher offering suggestions to create greater ease in the poses and in turn for students looking to deepen their experience within the poses.This class is excellent for beginners or those returning to yoga after a hiatus. Open to all levels.

Saskia holds a safe and sacred space for her students connect with their ever-changing pregnant bodies, integrating asana and restorative yoga into her prenatal classes.  As important moderate exercise is during pregnancy, knowing how to rest deeply and rejuvenate is equally important, Saskia merges these two aspects into her prenatal classes to help prepare the mother-to-be for the first critical years of motherhood.

Saskia has taught prenatal & postnatal yoga since 2003, she has practiced as a doula and teacher.

Saskia teaches this powerful form based vinyasa from the foundation up, benefiting beginners and seasoned yogis alike. A mindful vinyasa is taught, merging breath, body, movement along with intellect and the hearts true vibration. As we move through the series of poses,we explore the grounding effects of yoga on the mind, body and spirit, looking to anchor these qualities into the workings of our everyday life.This class is suitable for students familiar with Sun Salutation.​

Infant Massage Series

(Recurring)

Taught by Susan Francis, LMT

Pre-Register Only. Dates: 8/17, 8/24, (SKIP Labor Day Weekend) 9/7, 9/14

 

During this 4 week mini-series, you will be given the opportunity to learn how to understand your babies non-verbal communication patterns, soothe upset tummies, and improve sleeping patterns. It is also an amazing opportunity to bond and socialize with your infant in a meaningful way. You will leave with massage techniques to relax your baby at home. Oil and yoga mats will be provided, please bring your infant and any item that would make them feel comfortable for our time together.

Susan Francis, LMT

A former special education teacher, Susan  Francis was certified in massage in 2013. Working with children is a gift, and Susan  has trained with globally recognized instructor Tina Allen of the Liddle Kidz Foundation to become a certified infant massage teacher.
